Life at Conception Citizen's Initiative Filed

On Tuesday, March 5, 2013 Ann Reed of Tupelo, a post abortive mother who knows the hurt of abortion and the healing of Christ and who has helped many other women find hope through the Surrendering the Secret Bible study, will be filing a proposed amendment to the Mississippi Constitution to ensure the humanity of all people created in God’s image is recognized and that they receive equal protection under the law.

The proposed amendment reads:

Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Mississippi:

Article 14 of the Mississippi Constitution of 1890 is hereby amended BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION to read:

“Section 269A.The right to life begins at conception. All human beings, at every stage of development, are unique, created in God’s image and shall enjoy the inalienable right to life as persons under the law.

This initiative shall not require any additional revenue for implementation.”

There is a process with the Secretary of State and Attorney General that takes several weeks — and once completed, the people of Mississippi will have one year to collect approximately 108,000 signatures from registered voters.
Once these signatures are collected and certified, the amendment will be placed on the ballot for the voters to consider. If passed, this will become law in Mississippi and once again we will see women and children protected from abortion, experimentation, and other abuse.
This amendment would also offer protection for the elderly, the handicapped and others who cannot defend themselves.
